Our ancestors, the chimpanzees, are waiting for you on this day. You will be visiting them in their home in Kibale National park early in the morning. Six visitors are allowed to visit a chimpanzee family apart from the rangers who will be guiding you through the entire experience. You will be briefed by the ranger guide on how to behave in the forest, especially when you are with the chimpanzees. It is quite an amazing experience since these apes are used to humans, even when living in the wild. The closer you can get to them is 7 meters, though sometimes they tend to get closer than that. This experience takes an average of 3 hours.

After a lunch break, you will then visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This sanctuary is a natural habitat to other primates like the vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, etc. It is also full of plant life, especially the medicinal plants. The great blue turaco has its home in this sanctuary too. This experience will also take you like 3 hours on average depending on your speed and interest. A local guide is always there to take through this experience.

Day 4. Another Chimpanzee Experience

Kibale Forest Camp, your place of accommodation, is surrounded by nature. Therefore, this morning is reserved for you to enjoy the surroundings on your own without a guide. There is a trail that goes around the camp that will give you the opportunity to enjoy nature, especially the monkeys that keep on swinging from one branch of tree to another. If you are a nature photographer, this will be a time to take more shots without stress.

In the afternoon, you will undertake another chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale National Park. Since you viewed them the day before in the morning, this will be another chance for you to have another shot at them in the afternoon. This second experience will let you enjoy them more by looking at them, and probably take other good photos for comparison. No two experiences can be the same.

Day 5. Kibale National Park - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to the mountain gorillas, will take you through beautiful landscape dotted with crater lakes at the beginning of the journey. You will also not miss out on the smiling children who will keep on waving at you in the car. We recommend you bringing some pencils/pens or any other thing that children might be happy to receive apart from money. You will be briefed by a ranger guide on how to behave while in the forest, especially when you are with the gorillas. The ranger guide will all the time be giving you information about these animals. Take your time because the whole day is dedicated to this amazing experience. Ask as many questions as you want. While taking photos of these amazing animals, you must put off your flash, as this might scare them away. You can as well hire a porter at a small fee of $15 to help you carry your rucksack for ease of movement. Your rucksack will be having drinking water, packed lunch for the day, your camera and other accessories. A porter does not only carry your bag, he or she also gives you more support on the way. In the village walk, you will have an experience of how the pygmies used to live in this forest together with the gorillas. They will demonstrate to you how they used to make fire, show you the house they stayed in, the food they used to eat and the music that kept the entertained. You see, you do not only visit the gorillas. You also get to know the environment surrounding the animals. In case you have some old clothes you do not need, please bring them as a gift to these poor pygmies.

Because of its fertile soils, you will also see hills covered with only pineapples. Do not forget to stop and taste these sweet apples. As you approach the national park, do not get surprised when you start seeing a few plains zebras and impalas, as these sometimes graze outside the national park boundaries.
